Well, another season has come and gone. And what a season it was – so many new people and new adventures: me being one of them. My name is Jen Miller, and I am the newest board member of the Dunnville Horticultural Society (DHS), taking the role of Corresponding Secretary. I am pleased to take over the role of DHS monthly articles from Deb Zynomirski. I will be bringing you all the updates and events, and all the fun information we have to share about DHS.
DHS held its Annual General Meeting on November 17 at 6 p.m. Before embarking on a wonderful potluck dinner, President Deb Zynomirski provided a welcome before grace and the singing of the national anthem.
After four amazing years, she has decided to step down as president and was honoured with a decorative bench on behalf of DHS members. She was acknowledged for her hard work and dedication to DHS. But don’t worry, Deb remains on the board.
After the new board was sworn in, Deb provided a very heartfelt goodbye and thanked those members leaving the board for their service.
Fun and games were plenty at this year’s annual auction where DHS raised money for future projects. Prizes included a rototiller, carpet, sound system, and lots of gardening tools. Members were encouraged to relax and take in the holiday season.
The next DHS program night is scheduled for January 19, 2023.
Please feel free to join us. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. A fellowship garden talk will take place and memberships are available. DHS encourages you to come out and have some fun every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Dunnville Optimist Hall on Main St E. We offer a positive social environment and continual learning. We hope to see you there!
