DUNNVILLE—Is climate change on your mind? If so, join us for this month’s Dunnville Horticultural Society (DHS) Program Night on March 19, 2020 – it may be of particular interest to you. We will welcome speaker Kevin Kavanagh of South Coast Gardens. Kevin’s perspective on how climate change will affect our local growing seasons and our gardens is both educational and inspiring.
While winter hasn’t quite loosened its grip on us, gardeners everywhere are getting excited about the warmer days ahead. This past month, we had to be satisfied with just dreaming about spring. At our February Program, 10 lucky members went home with gorgeous orchids following our video presentation on that subject.
Subscriptions are currently available for 2020, the price being just $10 for a single and $15 for a couple. If you purchase your membership before the end of our next Program Night, you will be eligible for our Early Bird Draw.
Subscription dues support DHS programs in Dunnville, which include planting and maintaining local public flower beds, encouraging youth gardening programs and a bursary, community projects such as Thompson Creek Eco Centre and the refurbishment of the monument in Centennial Park, our annual plant sale, and many other beautification initiatives. We are blessed and thankful to have such a caring and supportive community in Dunnville!
Join DHS for our next get-together on Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Dunnville Optimist Hall. Also remember that we will be holding our annual seed exchange on March 19. Make sure your seeds are packaged and labelled with care instructions. Until then, keep your thumbs green! You can reach me at 416-566-9337 or 905-774-8453.
Deb Zynomirski is the DHS president.
