HOME & GARDEN SHOW this year was our most successful ever. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped make it such a success. It was the busiest booth at the show. Luna even helped bring people over. We sold almost $400 in bulbs and increased our membership by 40! Next year we have been promised a corner booth giving us more room.
OHA MEETING had as speaker on companion gardening. Judy gave some good tips on how to make your vegetable garden look beautiful with flowers, which will also help with bug control. Handouts on companion gardening was made available to the members. The speaker will also do seminars if we are interested.
BREAK WAS HELD to enable members to get refreshments or buy some of the many bulbs that were available at special member prices. Thanks to Maura and Mary VanOosten for a wonderful spread. Next month’s hostesses are Lori Maracle and Pat Taylor-VanNatter.
SPEAKER KEVIN HAMILTON from Shared Harvest talked about organic farming and told us all about what actually goes into the food we buy at the supermarket. He encouraged us to buy from local farmers. Shared Harvest has a program where one can buy a share of the vegetable crop for $25/week for a 32 week run.
VOLUNTEER SHEETS were passed out for the upcoming Plant Sale on May 14 and for planting/maintaining the garden beds in town. Both sheets were completely filled in. Thanks!
BULBS were sold in the amount of $683. We also signed up 10 new members tonight.
